Maryland builders who do ADUs

We connect you with a licensed Maryland builder. We do not build, and we do not rank anyone. The list below is every builder we know of in the state that does accessory dwelling units, in no particular order.

Each entry has the town the shop works out of, the kind of unit it puts up, and the Maryland Home Builder Registration (MHBR) number where the registry has it. 9 of the 14 have a number on file. Check any number yourself on the state registry before you sign.

How the match works

  1. 1. You send the address and the kind of unit, or call (240) 261-0261.
  2. 2. We check the lot against the county rule and the sprinkler question. The rules are on the rules tracker.
  3. 3. One builder from this list who already works in your county gets your details and calls you. You hire them directly. They hold the license and the contract.

Site built means framed on the lot. Modular means the unit is built in a factory and set by crane, then finished on site. A detached unit of either kind gets a fire sprinkler system in Maryland, which our sister company covers on the sprinkler page.
